WebP to PNG Converter
Convert WebP images to PNG for editing, or for apps that don’t support WebP. Transparent backgrounds are kept, and nothing leaves your device.
When to choose PNG over JPG
PNG is the better target when a WebP has a transparent background, such as a logo, icon, sticker or product cut-out. PNG keeps the transparency exactly, while JPG would fill it with white. PNG also opens in every image editor, from Paint and Preview to Photoshop, GIMP and Canva.
Because PNG is lossless, nothing more is lost on the way from WebP to PNG: you get exactly the pixels the WebP contained. The flip side is size. A photo stored as PNG can be many times larger than its WebP, so for photos you only want to view or share, WebP to JPG is usually the better choice.
Screenshots, diagrams, logos and other graphics with flat colors and text stay reasonably small as PNG, and they stay perfectly sharp, without the smudged edges that JPG compression can add around text.

Which format should I choose?
- JPG
- Opens on every phone, computer, and website. Pick this if you are not sure.
- PNG
- Lossless, so no quality is lost. File sizes are 3–5× larger than JPG.
- WebP
- Around 30% smaller than JPG at the same quality. Supported by all modern browsers.
- AVIF
- The smallest files, often half the size of JPG. Newer, so a few older apps cannot open it.
Frequently asked questions
What is a WebP file?
WebP is an image format Google created to make web pages load faster. Most websites now serve their images as WebP, which is why saving a picture from your browser often gives you a .webp file. Browsers open it fine, but some older apps and upload forms do not.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your web browser using WebAssembly. Your photos never leave your device, and we never see them.
Is there a limit on how many photos I can convert?
No. Add as many as you like. Very large batches are processed a few at a time so your device does not run out of memory.
Does converting reduce quality?
At the default settings the difference is invisible. Choose PNG for a lossless copy, or raise the quality slider for JPG, WebP and AVIF.
What happens to photo metadata like location?
Converted images do not include the original metadata (EXIF), so GPS location, camera details and timestamps are removed. That makes them safer to share publicly.
Why is AVIF slower?
AVIF squeezes images much smaller, which takes more computation. Expect a few seconds per photo.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS.
