PNG to WebP Converter
Make PNG images web-ready. WebP files are a fraction of the size, keep transparent backgrounds, and display in every modern browser.
Why convert PNG to WebP?
Large PNG files are one of the most common reasons websites load slowly. Converting them to WebP usually cuts their size dramatically, especially for photos, which makes pages load faster and helps your PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals scores.
Unlike JPG, WebP supports transparency, so logos, icons and product cut-outs keep their transparent backgrounds. That makes WebP the natural replacement for PNG on the web, and WordPress, Shopify and most other site builders accept it.
The default quality of 85% suits photos and most graphics. For logos, icons and screenshots with crisp edges or small text, raise the quality to 95% or more to keep every edge sharp.

- JPG
- Opens on every phone, computer, and website. Pick this if you are not sure.
- PNG
- Lossless, so no quality is lost. File sizes are 3–5× larger than JPG.
- WebP
- Around 30% smaller than JPG at the same quality. Supported by all modern browsers.
- AVIF
- The smallest files, often half the size of JPG. Newer, so a few older apps cannot open it.
Frequently asked questions
What is a PNG file?
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless image format that supports transparency. It is ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics, but it stores photos as very large files.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your web browser using WebAssembly. Your photos never leave your device, and we never see them.
Is there a limit on how many photos I can convert?
No. Add as many as you like. Very large batches are processed a few at a time so your device does not run out of memory.
Does converting reduce quality?
At the default settings the difference is invisible. Choose PNG for a lossless copy, or raise the quality slider for JPG, WebP and AVIF.
What happens to photo metadata like location?
Converted images do not include the original metadata (EXIF), so GPS location, camera details and timestamps are removed. That makes them safer to share publicly.
Why is AVIF slower?
AVIF squeezes images much smaller, which takes more computation. Expect a few seconds per photo.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS.
