HEIC to WebP Converter
Make iPhone photos web-ready. WebP files are much smaller than JPGs at the same quality, and every modern browser can display them.
Why use WebP?
WebP was designed by Google specifically for the web. At the same visual quality, WebP photos are typically 25–35% smaller than JPGs, which means faster page loads and less data for your visitors. It is a great choice for blogs, online shops and any site where you upload lots of photos.
Current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all display WebP, and so do WordPress, Shopify and most other website builders. Some older desktop software and print services still expect JPG, so keep a JPG copy if you are not sure where a photo will end up.
The default quality of 85% is a good balance for photos. For web use, combine it with a maximum size of 2048 px or 1080 px: a full-resolution iPhone photo is far larger than most screens need.

Which format should I choose?
- JPG
- Opens on every phone, computer, and website. Pick this if you are not sure.
- PNG
- Lossless, so no quality is lost. File sizes are 3–5× larger than JPG.
- WebP
- Around 30% smaller than JPG at the same quality. Supported by all modern browsers.
- AVIF
- The smallest files, often half the size of JPG. Newer, so a few older apps cannot open it.
Frequently asked questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default since iOS 11. It keeps photos small, but many Windows PCs, Android phones, websites and apps cannot open it.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your web browser using WebAssembly. Your photos never leave your device, and we never see them.
Is there a limit on how many photos I can convert?
No. Add as many as you like. Very large batches are processed a few at a time so your device does not run out of memory.
Does converting reduce quality?
At the default settings the difference is invisible. Choose PNG for a lossless copy, or raise the quality slider for JPG, WebP and AVIF.
What happens to photo metadata like location?
Converted images do not include the original metadata (EXIF), so GPS location, camera details and timestamps are removed. That makes them safer to share publicly.
Why is AVIF slower?
AVIF squeezes images much smaller, which takes more computation. Expect a few seconds per photo.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS.
